THE ROLE
A detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team as an FSQA Technician. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of quality control and compliance. This role would be based at the Reno fulfillment Center as a field position to execute Quality Assurance initiatives and daily QA tasks as they relate to monitoring product quality and food safety. The role would own the product inspection tasks to ensure all required product inspections are conducted, communicated, and recorded on time. This role would be responsible for inspections related to the QA hold & release process, ensuring all product checks are executed appropriately, and conducting internal audits to assess compliance with FSQA SOPs and SSOPs. The FSQA Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of our products through various daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. They will work directly with the QA Manager to ensure that appropriate feedback is provided on quality issues, enabling timely and effective actions to be taken.
The days and hours for this position are: Sunday-Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily Produce Inspections: Checking counts, product placement, and expiration dates; documenting findings with pictures and reporting issues.
  • QAHOLD Area Management: Inspecting and verifying items in the QAHOLD area, updating spreadsheets, verifying against systems (HJ), and coordinating disposition with relevant teams.
  • Master Sanitation Program Maintenance: Printing weekly cleaning check-sheets, ensuring accuracy of all sections (weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, bi-yearly, and yearly), verifying page correctness, and verifying and filing completed records.
  • Filing and Record Keeping: Verifying and filing receiving forms, produce inspection reports, daily temp logs, employee training files, QAHOLD forms, certificates of destruction/donation, and Bills of Lading.
  • SOPs: Assisting with the yearly review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and working on new SOPs.
  • Temperature Equipment Calibration: Performing monthly calibrations and required documentation.
  • FSQA Specification and SOP Development Assistance: Participating in the development of SOPs and specifications. Taking and inserting pictures into templates, etc.
  • Fresh Customer Issues: Checking for customer complaints in Fresh and Frozen merchandise quality issues, looking up orders, inserting findings, and compiling reports.
  • Pack Audits: Conducting daily/weekly pack audits, ensuring correct packing of fresh and other items, filling out Google forms, noting issues, and reporting to the team.
  • Produce Delivery: Assisting with produce inspection, verifying against invoices, checking country of origin, recording expiration dates, taking pictures of damaged product, noting quantities of loose and damaged items, and filling in reports.
  • Will conduct appropriate sampling to be able to confirm if a Member complaint is isolated or if there is an issue with the current inventory.
  • Execution and maintenance of the Organic Programs, including assistance with audits and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience (minimum 2 years) in a food safety and quality assurance/control position.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety GMPs and HACCP.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and protocols.
  • Good communication skills to report findings and coordinate with team members.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets and documenting information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on collaboration across departments and the ability to conduct training.
