The Role
The Last Mile Operations Manager will lead a team of supervisors and drivers conducting daily delivery operations as we grow Thrive Market’s Last Mile service to new west coast markets. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing transportation and delivery processes from Thrive Market’s fulfillment center through final delivery on members’ doorsteps. The Operations Manager will work closely with several cross-functional teams including Fulfillment, People Operations, and Member Services, as well as the rest of the Transportation and Last Mile team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process Ownership - Oversee a team of supervisors and/or lead drivers managing daily operations delivering Thrive Market member orders
  • Lead the west coast team through process improvements to reduce costs, increase productivity and improve member experience
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure Thrive Market’s member orders are delivered with the highest quality member experience
  • Review team performance metrics and conduct deep dives to uncover improvement opportunities
  • Oversee daily route design to ensure supervisors are developing the most efficient routes and using our automated tools to their fullest
  • Collaborate with the Fulfillment Center team to ensure member orders are prepared, sorted and delivered in the most efficient manner with limited damages or other defects
  • Collaborate with other parts of the Last Mile team to share best practices and standardize operations
  • Communicate and problem-solve with the Member Services team on any recurring delivery issues
  • Culture - Design and implement employee engagement programs in collaboration with our People Operations team to foster Thrive Market’s values in our Last Mile operations
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to supervisors and drivers to enhance performance
  • Communicate the team’s priorities and goals clearly to supervisors and drivers to ensure alignment and engagement
  • Ensure all labor management practices are implemented consistent with Thrive Market policies and California regulations
  • Recognize top performance, coach, and administer progressive discipline for poor performance
  • Business Ownership - Communicate the team’s financial and quality results to Thrive Market leadership with clear explanations and action plans
  • Prepare weekly performance metrics to review with the rest of the Transportation team and demonstrate deep understanding of factors driving the team’s performance
  • Run analysis on productivity, cost and quality to ensure we understand what’s driving changes in our performance and develop improvement action plans
  • Drive high performance on productivity and quality metrics to ensure we deliver superior member experience

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication that is clear, concise, and polished
  • Highest levels of integrity and ethics
  • Dedicated to quality and high standards; Supportive of values
  • Must be proficient in using Excel, Word, Powerpoint and/or comparable G-Suite applications
  • 5 to 10+ years of proven leadership/supervisory experience within a delivery hub, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years managing consumer delivery service
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements through the lean process or Kaizen techniques as well as provide solutions when problem solving
  • Proven ability to quickly adapt and drive the right results using data

JOB INFORMATION

  • Compensation Description - The starting salary range for this position is between $100K - $120K.
  • Salary may increase over time based upon: skill, level of responsibility, additional duties, seniority, quantity or quality of production or other legitimate, business-related factors.
