Job Overview

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will be part of the Partnerize Technical Operations team, they work with the business, development, and IT functions. You’ll be building the infrastructure, delivering projects and processes required to ensure we remain available, scalable, and secure. Involved in support, project delivery and maintenance activities completed by the Operational Team. You are responsible for ensuring all issues/problems are addressed in a timely manner by the team.
You should have deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our core systems and infrastructure. You will be instrumental in designing and maintaining our cloud environment, and working with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with GCP services, including BigQuery and, ideally, a foundational understanding of Google AI functionality.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Partnerize, You Will:
- Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure (mainly GCP, AWS) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
- Foster a culture of high availability and automation across the Technical Operations organisation
- Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Google Cloud’s operations suite)
- Work with data science and analytics teams to support and optimise BigQuery services, ensuring data pipelines are reliable and performant
- Explore and integrate AI functionality to meet business requirement
- Be a significant contributor to incident and problem management to identify systemic issues and implement long-term solutions
- Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, GitHub, ArgoCD and Jenkins
- Utilise configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet to automate system setup and maintenance
- Significant contributor in capacity planning in future potential growth.
- Work with security teams to implement and maintain security best practices, including IAM policies and network security
- Delivery coaching sessions to the team/individuals
- Assist in scoping incoming work assignments
- Producing detailed documentation on the system design with visual representation to support
- Deliver large technical projects
- Be responsible and champion continuous improvement across all aspects of the role
- Participate in the On-Call Rotation
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working in cloud environments, specifically GCP, advantageous if you also have AWS experience
- Proven experience supporting and optimising BigQuery services and understanding its architecture
- Hands on experience with implementing and managing AI and LLM solutions in GCP
- Good experience in securing cloud environments and IAM implementation
- Experience in cloud solution design
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong preference for Terraform.
- Strong experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, especially Kubernetes (GKE)
- Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python or Bash
- Strong understanding of monitoring and observability tools
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, GitHub, ArgoCD or Jenkins
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Strong Linux system administration skills
- Knowledge of networking, and security best practices
- Ability to mentor and coach team members
- Ability to prioritise workload including take the lead on Incidents and Problem management
- Able to scope the work coming into the team
- Represent TechOps to the wider business and liaise with the other departments at a senior level
- Self-learner, desire to continue learning new technologies
- Knowledge of and experience with the ITIL practices
- Extensive experience working in operational focused roles in a cloud environment
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve issues independently and as part of a team
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- GCP certifications - Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) and/or Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE)
- Additional GCP certifications - Foundational Generative AI Leader, Professional Machine Learning Engineer
- Familiarity with AI functionality and a strong desire to explore its applications
- Experience with serverless architectures (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run)
- Familiarity with data-related services on GCP (Dataflow, Dataproc)
- Good Experience of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis)
- Supporting development teams into the refactoring of technical debt
- Experience of JIRA and Confluence
