We're coming to Japan, and we need two market launch representatives to build our Tokyo presence from scratch. You'll be employee #1 and #2, and will define what Karma is in Japan.
We just returned from Tokyo and discovered something exciting: the Japanese restaurant market represents a massive opportunity for what we've built.
Karma is a Swedish restaurant technology company that's transformed some of the best restaurants in the Nordics with our comprehensive platform - Karma OS. We've reached profitability by solving real problems for restaurant owners: a modern POS system, seamless QR ordering, automated loyalty programs that actually work, and integrated payment solutions - all in one system.
We're coming to Japan, and we need two market launch representatives to build our Tokyo presence from scratch.
This isn't a traditional sales role. You'll be employee #1 and #2 in Japan, with the autonomy and responsibility that comes with launching a market. You'll shape how Karma enters Japan, build relationships with the first restaurants that will define what Karma is in Japan. You're building your own startup with Swedish roots.
What You'll Do:
Build the market from zero
- Identify and close our first 20-50 restaurant partners in Tokyo
- Develop deep understanding of Japanese restaurant operations and pain points
- Adapt our Nordic playbook to Japanese restaurant culture and needs
Own the full sales cycle
- Hunt for new opportunities and generate your own pipeline
- Conduct discovery meetings and product demonstrations
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments (owners, managers, staff)
- Close deals and ensure smooth onboarding
Shape our Japan strategy
- Provide direct feedback to leadership on product-market fit
- Identify which segments respond best (quick service, casual dining, fine dining)
- Help define pricing, positioning, and go-to-market approach for Japan
Build something lasting
- As we grow, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead the team you started
- Your early decisions will influence how we scale across Japan
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Fluent in Japanese and English (both business-level)
- 3-5+ years in B2B sales, preferably in restaurant tech, hospitality tech, or SaaS
- Proven ability to hunt new business and close deals independently
- Deep understanding of Japanese restaurant operations and culture
- Entrepreneurial mindset - you thrive in ambiguity and build structure where there is none
- Based in Tokyo or willing to relocate
Highly Valued
- Experience in early-stage or startup environments
- Existing relationships with restaurant owners, chains, or hospitality groups in Tokyo
- Understanding of POS systems, payment processing, or restaurant management tools
- Track record of being first employee or early hire in new markets
