Overview:
The Sr Associate Category Manager will be responsible for leading the wine category by driving product sales through assortment productivity, price optimization, promotional planning, cost negotiations, product ordering for Liquor Barn retail stores. We are looking for an individual with an extensive knowledge of the Wine industry that is an opportunistic and product-focused Merchant capable of partnering with cross-functional partners (i.e. Marketing, Planning, Business Development, and In-Store Merchandising) to build strong assortments that surpass financial objectives. You also will work closely with the category management teams on our other Retail Business (BevMo! and Gopuff Walk in Liquor Stores) as well as the Gopuff App to build comprehensive plans across all of our banners. A strong analytical background is imperative to be able to analyze data and pricing to influence strategy. It will be imperative that this person demonstrate the problem-solving and analytical skills necessary to thrive in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.

This role, based in Kentucky, will have a hybrid work schedule, where you will be able to showcase your creativity and build strong relationships with teams in a cross functional manner.

You Will:

  • Establish a deep understanding of Liquor Barn and Gopuff businesses, internal processes, and overall assortment
  • Manage business to revenue and margin budgets that can be presented in OTB and cross-departmental meetings
  • Lead the selection, pricing, positioning and marketing of products in the wine category
  • Develop merchandising & category plans and strategies to improve product sales, margin and other key business driving metrics
  • Run and review weekly order plans for the wine category.
  • Monitor performance across multiple classes and locations and use / analyze data to establish go-forward strategies
  • Utilize both internal and external data effectively to make smart and educated decisions to drive incremental sales
  • Act as main point of contact for supplier partners and new business prospects
  • Build and maintain assortment strategies contingent with unique territory requirements in mind as it pertains to volume, size, distribution, and local trends
  • Conduct comp shop and pricing analysis for major metros within the state to ensure key product lines are represented effectively in all markets and margin targets are met
  • Stay updated on category trends and competitive market

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Merchandising, Business, or Economics is a plus)
  • 5+ Years of experience in Retail Buying, Merchandising and/or Category Management.
  • 5+ Years of experience in Alcohol Industry
  • Fully proficient in Excel is a hard requirement for this role, proficient in SQL a plus
  • Must have a significant knowledge of Supply Chain, Marketing and Financial Planning
  • Capable of taking initiative, ownership and accountability for the business
  • Ability to react quickly with a strong sense of urgency
  • Management, training and development experience is required
